In this study, we discuss different developments in the education and working practice of veterinarians in Austria. We focus on the veterinarian supply in different regions of Austria; especially regarding veterinarians specialized on farm animals. We use a variety of administrative data sources, an online survey among veterinarians and qualitative interviews with veterinarians and other stakeholders, to provide insights into the status quo and future developments of the supply of veterinarians in Austria, the education at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna and transformations in the occupational profile.
