  • Michael Reiter has been working at IHS since 2007, first as a Senior Researcher, and between 2012 and 2024 in varying positions as leader of various research groups. Currently he is part of the research group Business Cycles, Growth and Public Finances. He obtained his PhD in economics from the University of Munich in 1994. Before joining the IHS, he was Associate Professor at the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, starting in 1997, and Visiting Professor at the University of Western Ontario in the year 1994/1995.

    His research interests are in the field of computational macroeconomics, with a focus on computational methods for heterogeneous agent models. Applications include models on labor market dynamics, macroprudential policy, inflation dynamics, and the modelling of pension systems. A further recent focus are multi-industry models in macroeconomics, with applications to the modelling of energy prices, carbon pricing and the green transition. He has been project leader of the annual Progressionsbericht for the Austrian Ministery of Finance.
