The series will kick off with the theme "Hope and Utopia." Both concepts can strengthen communities and motivate people to enact change. They question the status quo and offer guidance, comfort, as well as new perspectives and thought spaces for a better future. However, it currently seems that hopeful utopias have fallen out of fashion, while the longing for lost pasts ("retropias") is on the rise. How can we maintain hope in the face of present-day threats? Where is the line between wishing, blind optimism, and hope? What should a place look like where a future seems possible? And what role do art and culture play in fostering hope and utopias?
On December 6 at 6:00 PM, Laura Wiesböck will discuss these and other questions with philosopher Fahim Amir and director and singer Anna Mabo.
