Hermann Kuschej joined IHS in 2002. He currently works as a Senior Researcher in the research group Social Cohesion and Polarisation. His academic career began at the University of Klagenfurt in the fields of history and sociology. As a Junior Researcher, he started at the Institute for Sociology of Law and Criminology (Vienna).
Hermann’s research is dedicated to applied criminal sociology and migration research. On the one hand the focus is on juvenile delinquency, as well as on the criminality and victimisation of migrant groups. On the other hand, it addresses educational sociological issues, such as social influences on educational aspirations and educational careers. In this context he also examines specific forms of self-employment and employment.
