Markus Kraus is a Senior Researcher in the research group Health Systems and Health Policy at IHS. He holds a PhD in Social and Economic Sciences (with distinction) from the University of Vienna. His research focuses on health economics and health policy. He is regularly involved in projects for the European Commission such as ANCIEN, SELFIE, PERISCOPE and SIMCor.

His research is widely disseminated through renowned journals, including Health Policy, Health Care Management Science, Public Health, SSM-Health Systems and BMC Health Services Research. Markus has received multiple grants from the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research and the Austrian Research Foundation to present at international scientific conferences. He is also a founding member of the Austrian Health Economics Association (ATHEA) and currently serves as its treasurer.
