Sebastian Koch has been with IHS since 2013 and co-heads the research group on Business Cycles, Growth, and Public Finances alongside Leopold Sögner. He holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Vienna and a PhD from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. As a member of the IHS economic forecast group, he is responsible for the Institute's inflation forecasts.

Sebastian's research focuses on business cycles. More recently, he has been working on identifying new sources for economic indicators and leveraging high-frequency data. He is also developing methods to improve seasonal adjustment for daily data. As business cycle indicators constantly evolve, he has created various data visualization tools, such as the publicly accessible IHS Price Monitor, to better track recent developments. In addition to his role in the IHS economic forecasting group, he contributes to the German Joint Economic Forecast, particularly in country projections for the US economy. He has led multiple forecasting projects and is actively involved in the FIW nowcasting exercise.
