<span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size: 8.0pt; font-family: 'Open Sans',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; color: black; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-language: DE-AT;">Dr. Johannes Starkbaum is a sociologist and political scientist, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Vienna in 2019. He joined the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in 2018. Johannes has been researching the interaction of science and society in the fields of medicine, mobility and science policy for more than 10 years. He has taught qualitative methods and comparative policy studies at the University of Vienna and at the ECPR Winter School in Bamberg, Germany. Between 2015 and 2017, Johannes was a consultant for the European Biobank Infrastructure (BBMRI ERIC CS ELSI). Between 2013 and 2015, he was at the FAU University Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany, where he researched the role of experts and the public in emerging biotechnologies.
