Monika Riedel is Senior Researcher in the research group Health Systems and Health Policy. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Vienna. Her major research fields are health and long-term care (LTC) economics and policy, comparative analysis of health and LTC systems, as well as the health and care workforce.

Her research has involved her in projects of the European Commission, such as ANCIEN, NEWJOBS and PERISCOPE, and she has repeatedly served as an expert on LTC in the European Commission’s Mutual Learning Program. Her work has been published in journals including Health Care Management Science, Social Policy & Administration, International Journal of Social Welfare and SSM Health Systems. Monika is a founding member of the Health Systems and Health Policy group at the IHS as well as the Austrian Health Economic Association (ATHEA).
