Erich Griessler has been a senior researcher at IHS since 1999 and is part of the research group "Social Sustainable Transformation". He studied sociology and history in Vienna and Maastricht and holds a PhD in sociology. Before joining the IHS, he conducted research at the University of Vienna, the AIT and the Ludwig Boltzmann Society. From 2003 to 2017 he taught empirical social science at WU and the University of Vienna. Since 2015 he teaches at the Department of Political Science (University of Vienna). In 2016 he started a research group on science, technology and social change at the IHS, which he will lead until 2023.
His research interests include social studies of science and technology, ethical, legal, and social aspects of research and innovation, democratic participation, regulation of assisted reproductive technologies, political sociology, responsibility in research, and transdisciplinarity.
