Robert M. Kunst has been at IHS since 1984, when he joined the then Department of Economics as an Assistant Professor, shortly after he graduated with a doctorate in Mathematics at the Vienna University of Technology. He also graduated from the two-year Program in Economics at IHS in 1983. Following a Schrödinger stipend stay at the University of California at San Diego, he was a Visiting Professor at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, at the University of Vienna, and at the EERC in Kyiv. In 2000, he joined the University of Vienna as a Professor of Empirical Macroeconomics. He continued at IHS as a member of the economic forecast group and as the coordinating editor of the journal Empirical Economics. In 2022, he retired from his professorship at the University of Vienna.
Robert's main research focus is on time series methods, in particular forecasting and seasonal cycles. His research has been published in the Review of Economics and Statistics, in the Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, in Empirical Economics, in the Journal of Time Series Analysis, and in the International Journal of Forecasting. -
