Monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting macroeconomic developments are core tasks of IHS. The necessary macroeconomic expertise and modeling infrastructure are housed within the research group Business Cycle, Growth, and Public Finance.

A key competence of this group is the IHS economic forecast, which serves as a central reference for decision-makers and the public. Additionally, a new emphasis on public finance is being expanded.
