This monitoring covers the admission regulations of very popular bachelor and diploma degree programs (architecture, biology, computer science, pharmacy, business administration/economics, communication studies), as well as degree programs subject to the German numerus clausus (medicine, psychology, veterinary medicine). The main research questions address the development of the number of study beginners with regard to sociodemographic characteristics and changes in sociodemographic composition of applicants in the stages of admission procedures. Several data sources are used: administrative data of the ministry of science, “UStat1”-data of the federal statistical office, data of the universities, and data from a survey among applicants.
