Holger Bonin has been Scientific Director at the Institute for Advanced Studies since July 2023. Previously, he was Research Director of the Institute for the Future of Labor (IZA) in Bonn and Full Professor of Economics with a focus on labor market and social policy at the University of Kassel. Holger's applied research is rooted  in the rigorous analysis of representative microdata. It focuses on the effectiveness of social policy, the impact of technological and demographic change on labor markets and jobs, and the sustainability of public finances. Holger is heavily involved in research-based policy-advising studies. He is a member of the Expert Advisory Board for the Competence Monitoring of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Germany and was a member of the Expert Commission for Research and Innovation of the German Federal Government.
